Abstract

Two experiments was trying to determine a good methodology to introduce a forage legume into a decumbent grass sod (Pangolagrass) and a tussock grass sod (Guineagrass) were carried out during 1975 and 1976 at the countries of Bilac and Votuporanga in the State of São Paulo. The legume used was siratro (Macruptylium atropurpureum) that was sown at a rate of 4kg per hectare. The parameters evaluated were: 1) number of plants per square meter 35 days after sowing; 2) percentage of the legume in the mixture, in terms of dry matter yield. Results, at the end of the first year, showed that the best treatments were the ones which included harrowing in the process.
