Abstract

The zinc deficiency is a world nutritional problem, however, the application of high doses can promote the toxicity. The aim of this work was to evaluate yield and toxic critical level of Brachiaria brizantha cv. xaraés as a function of zinc fertilization. The experiment was carried out under greenhouse conditions at FCAV/UNESP - Câmpus of Jaboticabal. Were used six zinc rates (0, 15, 30, 60, 120, 360 mg dm-3) and four replications. The experimental design was completely randonmized. Each experimental unit consisted of a pot filled out with five plants and three dm- 3 of Red latosol (Zn = 0.1 mg dm-3). Two cuts were done. The second, 35 days after the first cut. Zinc fertilization reduced yield. Toxic critical level on first and second cut was 161.55 and 176.97 mg kg-1 respectively.
