Abstract

The absorption capacity and sulphur concentration diverges among species classified in a same group of nutritional demand. This experiment was carried to evaluate forage mass and sulphur concentration in the aerial part of Cynodon dactylon cv. Tifton-85 and Panicum maximum cv. Tanzania grasses in response to sulphur rates (0, 10, 20, 30 and 40 mg dm-3). The experimental design was completely randomized with four replications. In both species the forage mass was smaller without the sulphur. There was positive linear effect on sulphur rates in sulphur concentration on the Tifton-85 and quadratic effect on the Tanzânia. The tifton-85 grass posses larger sulphur concentration and it is more responsive the sulphur application than Tanzânia grass, increasing the production of dry mass with smaller doses of the nutrient.
