Nutritive value of two sorghum silages Funk€™s 77F and Funk€™s 788A evaluated with sheep

Abstract

Silages of two varieties of sorgum Funk€™s 77 and Funk€™s 788A were evaluated nutritionally through digestion trial with sheep. The procedure followed was me total collection of utilizing nine wethers with harnesses in individual cages. Feces were collected during seven days: The dry matter of the silages were respectively for Funk€™s 77 and 788A: 25.4% and 23.8%. The averages digestion coefficients for Funk€™s 77 and 788A were respectively: dry matter 48.81% and 49.82%; organic matter 49.42% and 52.98%: crude protein 52.24% and 41.98%; crude fiber 49.88% and 64.25%; ether extract 83.79% and 77,86%, nitrogen free extract 51.73% and 54.41%, grass energy 49.77% and 56.70%. TDN values were respectively for Funk€™s 77 and 788A: 54.93 and 59. 72%.
