Abstract

The trial was carried out at Estação Experimental de Zootecnia de Sertãozinho (SP). The average fertility of buffaloes was 80.8 percent and the average calving interval was 449 ± 192 days. The age at first calving was 1,147 ± 168 days and the average weight 604 ± 101kg. The peak of the calving season was from January to June. The mortality from birth to 7 months was 10.5 percent. The means weight male were: birth 44 ± 6kg; months: 101 ± 24kg; 7 months: 155 ± 32kg; 14 months: 353 ± 64kg. The means weight of female were: birth: 42 ± 7kg; 4 months: 94 ± 24kg; 7 months: 140 ± 28kg; 14 months: 328 ± 55kg; 19 months: 482 ± 56kg; 26 months: 515 ± 53kg; 31 months: 554 ± 63kg; 38 months: 604 ± 101kg. Average milk production over 209 days€™ lactation was 864 ± 274kg.
