Abstract

Guinea grass hay, Panicum maximum Jacq.)., and Jaraguá grass hay, Hyparrhenia rufa (Ness) Stapf, were compared in a feedlot trial with nelore bulls as experimenta1 animals. The two rations consisted of 40% whole ground ear corn (grain + cobs + husks), 15% cottonseed meal. 5% alfafa hay and 40% Guinea grass or 40% Jaragua grass hay. Twenty€”four bullocks with about 465 days of age and 260kg of liveweight were used as experimental animals in a randomized block design with four replications per treatment and 3 animal per replication. There was no statistical difference (P<0.05) between the hay based rations for thec parameters studied (liveweight gain, intake, feed conversion).
