Biological test for rations used in feedlots

Abstract

Twenty Guzera x Schwyz crossed steers were used in a 84 days feed lot experiment following a randomized complete block design with 10 replications, to compare the value of com fodder and ground corn ear plus jaragua grass hay as rations for cattle in feeding test. Treatments were: A) 80% com fodder plus 15% cottonseed meal plus 5% perennial soybean hay and B) 40% ground ear corn plus 40% jaragua grass hay 15% cottonseed meal plus 5% perennial soybean hay, Average daily intake in a dry matter basis was 7.73 kg and 7.74 kg and average daily gain was 0.716 kg and 0.756 kg per animal, respectively for treatments A and B. Both rations were balanced as nearly as possible according to digestible protein and T.N,D. contents. There was no significant difference concerning to live body weight gains between treatments.
