Abstract

One hundred Guzera breeding cows were alloted at randon in two treatments, at the Estação Experimental de Zootecnia de Sertãozinho, State of São Paulo, where the climate Is tropical Savanah type, and the soil is typically red latosol, in order to compare the reproductive performance of the usual five months length of breeding season (October to February), versus three months length October to December). During four years cows were mantained throughout the year under good artificial pastures and natural mating. at the rate of one bull per twenty-five cows. Lenght of the breeding season did not alter the apparent fertility rate (abortions, stillbirths and calves born), of cows under two treatments.
