Abstract

Blood types were tested for 144 Brazilian Zebu cattle of four breeds (Gir, Guzerá, Nelore and Red Sindhi). Ten samples were added of the Mestiço, a new breed synthetized from Bos taurus and Bos indicus sources. Sire family data allowed 51 new system phenogroups to be identified in addition to the 10 new ones of Caracu reported by MILLER et alii (1984). Phenotypes or phenogroups frequencies were listed by breeds for all except the few Guzerá. The new G€™2 factor was placed m the system, associated with 14 phenogroups.
