Abstract

Present work was carried out at Estação Experimental Central of Instituto de Zootecnia in Nova Odessa, State of São Paulo, Brazil from June, 1982 to June, 1983. The main objective was to compare three cultivars of Galactia striata (NO 548, NO 1922 cv. Yarana and Comercial type). The plants were studied in competition to determine the percentage of legumes in the pasture (mixed with Molasses grass) and the class of acceptability of them. Cultivar Yarana showed higher percentage of occorrence than the other during the periods of June, November, January and April. There was a significative effect of residual fertilization during the 2nd epoch (November/82). Galactia Yarana being a late type, was better consumed in June (dry and cool sesaon of the year).
