Abstract

The experiment was carried out at the Estação Experimental de Zootecnia de Pindamonhangaba, State of São Paulo, Brazil. One hundred twenty eight gilts Landrace (64) and Wessex Saddleback (64) were mated 50% of them just one time (treatment A) and others two times within the interval of 6 to 16 hours (treatment B). The following parameters were analysed: number of piglets bom, live weight at birth, number and live weight of weaned piglets. The results showed that: a) treatment B resulted in greater number of piglets birth, b) treatment B resulted n lower live weight at birth, c) treatment B resulted in higher number of piglets weaned, and d) treatment B resulted in lower live weight at weaning. Considering the results, it is recomended two mating within the intervals of 6 to 16 hours after the first mating.
