Abstract

From october 1980 to september 1981, at Estação Experimental de Zootecnia de Pindamonhangaba. State of São Paulo, Brazil, calf gastro intestinal infections were correlated with weather conditions. Monthly, 2 weaning tracer were placed in 1.0 ha Brachiaria decumbens paddock previously infested with faeces helminth eggs of 14 calves (300 EPC faeces), Thirty days after, calves were killed and counted their tract gastrointestinal parasites. Cooperia, Hoemonchus and Trichostrongylus were the more prevalent, being Cooperia found all over the experimental period. Trichostrongylus axei was found during the dry season and Haemonchus contortus in the months of intensive rainfail (P<0.05). October to march period, showed 56,6% of the total annual gastrointestinal parasites recuperated from the animal tracts.
