Abstract

Two groups of bovines were submitted to blood collection and liver and bone biopsy. A group of twelve animals remained in a twelve hectares area, without mineral supplementation. These animals were confronted to eight others that received mineral supplementation regularly. For group 1 (without mineral supplementation) and group 2 (with mineral supplementation) it was observed the following levels of minerals in the bone: group 1: Ca 35.94%, P 14.98%, Mg 0.48% and bone ash 60.37%; group 2: Ca 36.44%, P 16.03%, Mg 0,49% and ash 61.20%. In the liver: group 1: Fe 189.25ppm, Cu 163.58ppm, Zn 122.58ppm and Mn 8.33ppm; group 2: Fe 207.63, Cu 199.25ppm, Zn 124.25 and Mn 9.50ppm. In the blood serum (in mg/100ml): group 1: Ca 9.10, P 7.84 Mg 2.08, Fe 0.33, Cu 0.10 and Zn 0.11; group 2: Ca 9.16, P 9.23, Mg 2.51, Fe 0.26, Cu 0.14 and Zn 0.11.
