Abstract

The trial was carried out at Posto de Avicultura, Brotas County, state of São Paulo. It was studied, under two levels of fertilization (with and without) the adaptation of five grasses (Setaria sphacelata cv. Nandi, Brachiaria decumbens cv. Australiana, Melinis minutiflora, Panicum maximum cv. Gatton panic and P. maximum var. trichoglume cv. Petrie (Green panic) and eight legumes (Macroptilium atropurpureum cv. Siratro, Terannus uncinatus, Calopogonium mucunoides, Macrotyloma axiliare, Stylosanthes hamata cv. Verano, S. guyanensis cv. IRI- 1022, S. guyanensis cv. Cook and Galactia striata). The experimental design was a complete randomized block with three replications. Before planting lime was applied in the whole area at the rate of 1350 kg/ha. Brachiaria decumbes and Macrotyloma axillare showed the highest dry matter and crude protein either with or without fertilization. With fertilization Green panic and Gatton panic as well as siratro also showed good yields.
