Abstract

An experiment to study the nutritive value of sweet sorghum and sweet sorghum plus pigeon pea silages was carried out at Instituto de Zootecnia, Nova Odessa, SP, Brasil. The pigeon pea forage was added to sweet sorghum at the levels of 30, 40, 50, 60 e 70% considering the green matter of the two forages. For pigeon pea silage exclusively it was used an additive €œBiosilo€™. Randomized block design, with 3 replications, was used to study the silages and their nutritive values using sheep. The adition of pigeon pea forage to the silage increased dry matter, crude protein and crude fiber levels. The total digestible nutrients intake decreased, though the dry matter intake was not affected by the adition of pigeon pea forage to the silage. The rejected dry matter, increased with the adition of pigeon pea forage in the silage.
