Abstract

This experiment was carried out at Núcleo de Pesquisas Zootécnicas do Planalto Central, em Nova Odessa (SP), Brazil, from October 1992 to October 1995. The purpose was to evaluate the preference of the equines for ten grasses. The experimental design was a randomized block with 4 replications. The local soil is a red-yellow Podzolic Soil, Laras variation, and it was used a basic fertilization with P205 (100 kg/ha), 40 days after the use of dolomitic lime (1.6 t/ha). After each evaluation, the experimental area was cut and fertilized with N (50 kg/ha) and K2O(25 kg/ha). It was verified that, between the grasses, six were approved for later research with equines: Cynodon plectostachyus, C. dactylon cv. Coast- Cross, Panicum maximum cv. Aruana, P. maximum cv. Centauro, Paspalum notatum cv. Pensacola e Chloris gayana.
