Abstract

Three hundred and sixty crossbred piglets (1/2 Duroc + 1/4 Landrace + 1/4 Large White) from four reproductive cycles progeny of 60 sows submitted to three sources of phosphorus (dicalcium, monocalcium and Tapira phosphates) during gestation and lactation and receiving the same sources of phosphorus in the initial, growing and finishing phases, were evaluated in an experiment. A randomized block design with three treatments (phosphorus sources), six replication with five piglets per experimental unit (pen) was used in each cycle. The rations based on corn, soybean meal and one of the three sources of phosphorus, were formulated to contain 16 and 13% crude protein during the growing and finishinf phases respectively, and were furnished "ad libitum" from 20 to 100 kg liveweight. The results did not show any significant difference between the three sources of phosphorus with respect to the performance traits of the pigs during the growing and finishing phases.
