Abstract

Three protein sources (A = soybean meal; B = cottonseed meal and C = fish and soybean meal) were studied in concentrate for calves. Thirty-six one-week old hybrid calves (518 european) (18 males and 18 females) were used in a randomized block design. The experiment lasted 119 days and during the first 49 days the animals received milk at rate of 1/12 of live weight twice a day. During the last 70 days the animals received one of the concentrat mixtures limited to 2,0kg/animal/day. The performance of animals in liveweight gains were similar with the three rations.
